About Rowan Lugg
Hi, I'm Rowan
I'm an artist from Staffordshire, currently studying Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University.
My work began through an interest in the human body and lived experience, but has recently been driven by my interest in folklore, mythology, storytelling and all the strange ways the past continues to shape the present. I spend a lot of time researching old tales, local legends, and traditional stories, using them as a starting point to explore ideas around identity, gender, and belonging.
I work across painting, printmaking, animation and whatever medium feels right for the ideas I'm exploring. My practice is driven by curiosity, experimentation and a tendency to want to try everything.
Outside the studio, you'll usually find me in galleries, second-hand bookshops, or reading about some obscure piece of British folklore.
